50 Million Murders

The Truth
No one likes it. And no one wants to own up to it. But that doesn't mean it ceases to be there.

- In the last 39 years, approximately 50 million babies have been aborted in America.

- It is estimated that 3,322 babies are aborted every day.

- 93% percent of all abortions occur for social reasons (i.e. the child is unwanted or inconvenient.)

There is a boy in our church named Jeff.
His name is nothing unusual. His voice isn't weird. He jokes and laughs and makes conversation and has an appetite for donuts to match no other.
Some would say that he isn't normal, though
But who decides what is normal?
If he isn't normal, then I am seriously messed up, because he is one of the most genuine people I have ever known. He is not chained by petty inhibitions, he loves Jesus, and he is filled with authentic joy.
Jeff is a bit stocky, blond-haired, and his almond-shaped eyes are framed by glasses as he tells us what he's going to do when he graduates highschool.
Jeff has Down Syndrome.
And every one who knows him is blessed by it.

- Down Syndrome occurs in one out of every 733 babies born in the U.S.

- Over 80% of unborn children who are tested positive for Down Syndrome are aborted.

80% of the beautiful people like Jeff are murdered. Because they are inconvenient. Because they are too hard to care for. Because they aren't "perfect."

Perfect?

Right. Like you and I are perfect, and have the power to decide when to kill another innocent human being.
How prideful. To think that we know better than the God who created this child.
How selfish. To put our convenience over the life or death of a living being.

50 million voices have been silenced.

And somehow, the world thinks that it's okay.
But we do not.

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:13

You shall not murder. Exodus 20:13

Great article! May the Lord convict the hearts of His children! Not only in this, but in all their corrupt ways!

"Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23,24
